War Games is one of the steel cage structure matches that took place in a professional wrestling show. In 1987 famous wrestler Dusty Rohdes introduced this concept in Jim Crockett Promotions also known as JCP. WWE also initially used the War Games theme on its developmental brand NXT. But on 26th November 2022 WWE repackaged its traditional Raw vs Smackdown, Survivor Series into Survivor Series War Games. This was WWE’s first-ever main roster War Games theme event. After watching this pay-per-view many pro wrestling fans are still confused about WWE War Games rule and regulation. Here are the answers for every WWE fan that wants to know what are the rules of War Games WWE.

What is WWE War Games

War Games Structure

The structure of War Games consists of a rectangular steel cage enclosing two wrestling rings placed side by side. The steel cage may or may not have a steel roof depending upon different wrestling promotions.

Since WWE already had the Hell in a cell concept where a steel cage is covered from all sides. Therefore Triple H decided not to cover the War Games steel cage from the top. In addition to this now superstars could also perform high-flying acrobat actions from the top of the cage.

Team positions

War Games consist of two or three teams facing each other in a match. Each team must have three or more members. One of the team members starts the match, and that man is decided by the team members only. Rest all the members are locked in a bar cage near the entrance area.

Entrance Advantage

One-one member from each team starts the match and after 5 minutes the cage of the teams having an advantage is unlocked and any one member from that team could join the match inside the war game’s steel cage. This advantage is pre-decided by the singles or tag team match between the members of the team facing each other.

But what are the rules of war games WWE if the advantage match is not held ? Then the coin toss method is used, like being used in an elimination chamber. Where the next entrance is picked randomly.

Entrance Rules

Definitely, the team having entrance advantage had an upper hand in numbers games as the match gets 2 on 1 handicap match. Only the first entrance is after 5 minutes, the rest all the entrances are made after 3 minutes one by one in alternate order of the team.

Officially start of the match

Once all the members step inside the war game’s steel cage then only the match is officially started and the bell rings. Results can not be declared even if the single team member entrance is left over.

The main purpose of that time is to damage the opponent as much as possible before the match officially starts. It’s wrestler’s choice to wrestle or not to wrestle each other till the match is officially started. This is one of the most interesting WWE War Games rules and regulations.

3 Ways to win the match

The first way to win the match is pinfall. The first team that pinfalls the single member of another team gets the victory.

The second method is the submission method. If any member of the team taps out or fails to respond to the referee’s 3 calls during a submission hold then the opponent team gets the victory.

The third is if any team member leaves or escapes the ring from the door or top his team is right away disqualified and the opposite team gets the victory. And if there are three teams, that team is disqualified and the match continues between the other two teams.

Conclusion

The deadliest part of this war games concept is that it’s also a no-disqualification match. That means wrestlers are free to use tables, chairs, kendo sticks, and much more. Since the war games theme was introduced in 1987 but Triple H added his own variation to it for the entertainment of the WWE universe.
