Welcome to our coverage of WWE Backlash 2023 results and highlights, the latest professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) and livestreaming event produced by WWE. Held for wrestlers from the promotion’s Raw and SmackDown brand divisions, this year’s event took place on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Bianca Belair (c) vs. Iyo Sky for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship

Bianca Belair vs. Iyo Sky

The show opened with Bianca Belair, the current Raw Women’s Champion, defending her title against Iyo Sky. Sky’s Damage CTRL teammates, Bayley, and Dakota Kai, tried to help her during the match, but Belair fought them off and retained her championship. This win subsequently made Belair the longest-reigning Raw Women’s Champion in the modern era, and her performance was nothing short of impressive.

Seth “Freakin” Rollins vs. Omos (with MVP)

In the second match, Omos faced Seth “Freakin” Rollins, where Omos attacked Rollins before the match even began. Rollins, however, managed to turn the tables and pinned Omos with The Stomp from the middle rope, earning himself a well-deserved victory.

Austin Theory (c) vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Bronson Reed for the WWE United States Championship

Austin Theory defended the United States Championship against Bobby Lashley and Bronson Reed in a triple threat match. In the end, Theory retained the championship by throwing Lashley out of the ring and pinning Reed.

Rhea Ripley (c) vs Zelina Vega for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship

Rhea Ripley defended the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Zelina Vega, who got a standing ovation from the Puerto Rican crowd due to being of Puerto Rican descent. Ripley dominated Vega throughout the match, and despite Vega fighting back with a 619 and diving meteora, Ripley pinned her with her Riptide finisher to retain her championship.

Bad Bunny vs. Damian Priest – San Juan Street Fight

In the fifth match, Damian Priest faced rapper Bad Bunny in a San Juan Street Fight. The two put on a spectacular show, fighting with various weapons both in and out of the ring. Priest suffered a leg injury during the match, but Bunny continued to target his injured leg until Priest’s Judgment Day teammates, Dominik Mysterio, and Finn Bálor, arrived and started attacking Bunny. Former WWE Puerto Rican wrestler Carlito made a surprise return, followed by Savio Vega and the LWO, who helped Bunny secure the win.

The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Jey Uso, and Jimmy Uso) vs.Matt Riddle, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn – Six-man tag team match

Solo Sikoa, Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso vs.Matt Riddle, Kevin Owens

The penultimate match saw The Bloodline face Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and Matt Riddle in a six-man tag-team match. The match was intense, with Sikoa mistakenly catching his partner Jey by the throat for the Samoan Spike, but stopping his attack. In the climax, Riddle, who was unaware that Sikoa was the legal man, performed the Bro Derek on Jey, but Sikoa entered the ring and performed the Samoan Spike on Riddle, securing the win for The Bloodline.

Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar

In the main event, Cody Rhodes faced Brock Lesnar, but before the match began, Rhodes attacked Lesnar with various objects, including a steel chair and the steel steps. Lesnar began delivering numerous German Suplexes to Rhodes, but Rhodes was able to send Lesnar into the exposed steel turnbuckle, severely cutting him open. Rhodes then delivered a series of cutters followed by two Cross Rhodes for a nearfall. Lesnar managed to reverse the third Cross Rhodes into an F-5, but in the final moments, Rhodes was able to leverage Lesnar into a pin to win the match.
